BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PAMANTASAN NG LUNGSOD NG PASIG
The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig is the realization of our long cherished dream for all Pasigueños. Now, we can proudly claim that the Pasig City Government has provided for the complete education needs of its constituents – from day care to college.
By using all available facilities and resources of the City through integrated activities and networking initiated by the Pamantasan, we foresee our youth to be at par with the world’s best in terms of competencies that develop in each one of them a strong sense of nationhood, responsibility, integrity, efficiency, and global consciousness.

On March 15, 1999, the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Pasig passed Ordinance No. 11, Series of 1999, establishing the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig, and appropriated funds for its operations. The authority of the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Pasig to establish the Pamantasan is Article III, Sections 447, 458, 468 of the Local Government Code of 1991 which allowed institutions to be established and operated by Local Government Units.
The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig was part of the Pasig City Development Plan of 2000, and the City’s response to the challenges of the new millennium. Consistent with the vision of its founder, the University utilizes all the modern facilities available in the city: the City Library, the Computer Center, the Sports Complex, the Convention Center, the Museum, the Livelihood Center, the Youth Training Center, the Rain Forest Park and Recreational Facilities, Day Care Centers and the Basic Education schools situated in the City. In effect, the University campus is the entire city of Pasig itself offering quality education and ultimately, the good life to all Pasigueños.
To date, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig has been placed under the stewardship of three appointed Presidents and two Officers-In-Charge: Dr. Carolina P. Danao, the Founding President from June 2000 to December 2005, Dr. Corazon M. Raymundo, from January 2006 to March 2007 on secondment from the University of the Philippines, Dr. Elsa R. Encabo, Officer-in-Charge from April 2007 to July 2007, Dr. Nilo L. Rosas, president for a brief period in August 2007 before he was appointed by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo as Commissioner of the Professional Regulation Commission, Prof. Josefa A. Dimalanta as Officer-In-Charge from August 2007 to January 2008, and Hon. Ambassador Rosalinda Valenton-Tirona, the third University President from January 2008 – 2010. In 2011, the Dr. Hernando R. Gomez, Vice-President was appointed Acting University President. In January 2012, Amihan April M. Alcazar, Ph.D. Vice President for both Academic and Administrative Affairs, and was appointed the fourth University, with the Pasig City Council confirming her appointment as University President In October 2012. She was sworn into office by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on February 28, 2013 in auspicious ceremonies held at the Supreme Court, and was Invested as the University President III by the Hon. Robert C. Eusebio, the Chairman of the Board and City Mayor of Pasig on 08 March 2013 at the Tanghalan Pasigueno in Pasig City, which coincided with the World Women‟s Day Celebration.
