LIBRARY VISION

The library envisions evolving as the best intellectual resource of the academic community through an automated library system that will contribute substantially to the education of Pasigueños to become world-class citizens in the global information network.

 

LIBRARY MISSION

As the source of knowledge in the university, the library strives to acquire substantial collections and render services that meet standards of excellence to support quality education, research productivity, and the extension programs of the institution thru systematic information retrieval and dissemination

 

CORE VALUES

  1. Preservation – The Library collections should be preserved well.
  2. Services – It should be provided and delivered to the users efficiently.
  3. Accountability – Be responsible and accountable for the library collections and equipment.
  4. Commitment – Librarians and staff should be committed to serving the clients wholeheartedly.
  5. Build a favorable environment for the users. 

 

GOALS

  1. Provide free access to library collections print or non-print that will suit the needs of the clients.
  2. Satisfy the faculty and students’ needs in terms of services provided by the staff.
  3. Library as a learning place for information technology.
  4. Improve the number of collections that are relevant.
  5. Support library staff training to enhance their services.

Library Service
  • Reference and Circulation Service 

The Librarian provides personal assistance to every library client to meet his information needs through personal or online. For online customer service a Google request form can be found at the library’ FB page (PLPASIG LIBRARY). A library feedback form is given for every service rendered.

 

  • Document Delivery Service

Scanning and picture taking of some parts of the printed resources of the library may avail. It will be sent to your PLP email address or FB messenger. A Google request form is pinned at the library’s FB page. First come first serve basis.

 

  • Reader’s Services

A service wherein PLP community may come to study and make assignments and projects. Located in front of the Circulation Section.

 

  • Bibliographic Service

Every time the library has new purchases or new deliveries, the library distributes “List of New Acquisitions/new deliveries” and a “Bibliography of Classified New Books to the different colleges of PLP. We also post it in the Library’s FB page (PLPASIG Library) and bulletin board of the library.

 

  • Current Awareness/Selective Dissemination of Information 

The library disseminates important information, inspirational, motivational and open educational resources, coming from legit resources, purchased online resources, Pasig/PLP community updates and posted to the library’s FB page (PLPASIG Library) and electronic bulletin board of the library. 

 

  • Library Orientation/Library instruction

This is performed every start of each semester. Library rules, services, collections, procedures, privileges and many others are discussed.

 

  • Periodicals

Borrowing of professional journals and magazines, newspapers. These are for room use and can be photocopied. Located at the Periodical and Information File Section.

 

  • Vertical File Materials 

Borrowing of clippings, pamphlets, brochures, booklets, Lundayan publications which are arranged in alphabetical order by subject. You will find these materials at the Periodical Section and Information File Section.

 

  • Research Projects

Borrowing of undergraduate thesis, feasibility studies, masters’ thesis and dissertations. For room use only. Located at the Thesis Section.

 

  • Map and picture Collections 

Borrowing of all kinds of pictures on all subjects, such as Philippine heroes, Computer parts. Laboratory apparatus, Philippine bank notes, Different system of the human body, Different country flags etc. World and Philippine map as well.

  • PHL CHED Connect – A web application that contains higher education course materials in text, media and other digital assets that are useful for teaching, learning and research purposes.

  • STARBOOKS or the Science and Technology Academic and Research-Based Openly-Operated KioskS (STARBOOKS) is a stand-alone information source designed to reach those with limited or no access to S&T information resources. The project aims to provide STI (Science, Technology, and Innovation)-based content in various formats to students and other constituents in geographically-siolated and economically-challenged schools and communities throughout the country. STARBOOKS contains hundreds of thousands of digitized science and technology resources in various formats (text and video/audio) placed in specially design “pods” set in a user-friendly interface.

What are Open Educational Resources (OERs)?

Open Educational Resources (OERs) are teaching, learning and research materials in any medium – digital or otherwise – that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions. (UNESCO, 2019).
